Enock Buleya was born and grew up in a strong catholic family in the town of Mulanje. From a very early age he was taught to assist Priests in Eucharist services at one of the biggest Cathedrals in Mulanje district. From Childhood, his role models were bishops and priests, and his ambition was to become a Priest.
“My parents desired that I should become a priest and they started preparing me for this role when I was young; they would let me miss classes during my secondary education but not church activities” said Enock. As soon as he completed his secondary education, Enock was sponsored by a priest to go to the Catholic seminary to train for the priesthood. Enock and his family were very happy that the dream for their son was being realized.
However, while at the seminary, Enock began seeking the truth about the true Sabbath day. In one of his lectures, information was presented on Sunday Sacredness. To his amazement the teacher told the class that Saturday was the true Sabbath day of the Bible and that it was the Catholic church that changed the Sabbath to Sunday. Enock was curious about this and questioned his teacher. The teacher told him that if he wanted to know more on the topic, he should ask a Seventh-day Adventist church member.
So the next day he started searching for a Seventh-day Adventist to learn more about the change of the Sabbath. In God’s providence we were just about to start an evangelism program in the very area where Enock was living. He discovered that we were Seventh-day Adventists and came to the program hoping to learn more about the Sabbath. Here he met our Bible worker Jackson, and asked him the question, “Why was the Sabbath changed from Saturday to Sunday?
Jackson spent time answering his probing questions and from that day, Enock begun to attend the evangelism campaign meetings. Here, he learnt that the Catholic Church was the Antichrist power of Bible prophecy and not only had they changed the Sabbath, but have twisted most of the true doctrines of the Bible.
Enock was shocked by all this new information. He was training to become a Catholic priest and this information shook his whole world to its very core. He continued to study every day and was deeply convicted of the truth. At the end of the evangelism series, Enock was baptized into Seventh-day Adventist Church!
Of course, Enock’s parents and sponsors were not happy with his conversion. Consequently, they withheld all their support from Enock. Alone and struggling to make ends meet, we were able help him set up a small business selling clothing in the local markets. Enock is still strong in his faith despite going through many challenges. He was married last month and is currently serving the Lord as the Adventist Youth leader at his local church.
